Intubation is a procedure measured in seconds, and every second spent looking for an item is a second the patient is not being ventilated. An intubation kit exists to remove that search: the tube, the airway adjuncts, suction, the securing device and the lubrication, in one sterile pack, in the order the procedure uses them.

This category covers the single-use intubation pack for theatre, emergency department and critical care use. It is configured to the airway protocol — the sizes and adjuncts differ between an adult theatre list, a paediatric ward and an emergency tray — and supplied sterile with the lot documentation your infection-control and registration processes expect.

Two things decide whether an intubation kit is actually used: whether the contents match the protocol the team follows, and whether the pack opens in an order that works when the team is under pressure. Both are design decisions, and both are settled before production rather than discovered in use.

Does your current airway tray carry items nobody reaches for? Send us the contents list your team uses for a standard intubation. We will propose a single sterile pack configured to that protocol, sequenced in the order it is used.

Disposable Endotracheal Intubation Kit in practice

  • Operating theatre general anesthesia — standard adult pack for planned intubation
  • Emergency department airway management — pre-packed tray for rapid sequence induction
  • Intensive and critical care — bedside pack including suction and securing items
  • Paediatric and neonatal units — sized tube and adjunct pack for smaller airways
  • Obstetric theatres — airway pack for caesarean and emergency obstetric anesthesia
  • Pre-hospital and retrieval medicine — compact pack for advanced airway procedures outside hospital

Choosing the right Disposable Endotracheal Intubation Kit

Configure to the protocol, then size to the patient group:

  1. Patient group first. Adult, paediatric and neonatal airway kits differ in tube size range and adjunct selection. A single "universal" kit ends up carrying items that are wrong for every group, so most departments stock two.
  2. What the team actually reaches for. List the items used in a standard intubation in your department — including the securing device, which is often omitted from generic packs and then fetched from a drawer.
  3. Suction and lubrication. Confirm whether suction and lubricant are included or kept separately, since this varies by unit and changes the pack contents.
  4. Presentation order. Items are sequenced so the pack opens in the order of the procedure. This is the detail that decides whether the pack helps under pressure or adds to it.

How we control quality for Disposable Endotracheal Intubation Kit

Airway consumables are assessed on reliability under time pressure:

  • Sterile barrier and presentation. ISO 11607 validated packaging with contents sequenced in procedure order, so the pack can be opened one-handed in a controlled sequence.
  • Sterilization and residuals. EO sterilization to SAL 10⁻⁶ with residuals tested to ISO 10993-7 before release.
  • Tube and cuff integrity. Cuff inflation and leak testing, pilot balloon and valve function checked at batch level — a failed cuff mid-case is an immediate re-intubation.
  • Biocompatibility. ISO 10993 testing for prolonged mucosal contact with the tube and adjuncts.
  • Traceability. Lot number linking the pack to the lots of the components inside it, so a component issue can be scoped to affected packs.
  • Quality system. ISO 13485 manufacturing with CE marking under EU MDR and the documentation your registration holder requires.

Common questions about Disposable Endotracheal Intubation Kit

Can the intubation kit be configured to our airway protocol?

Yes. We work from the contents your team actually uses for a standard intubation in your department, including items such as the securing device that generic packs often omit. The configuration is agreed with your clinical team, then versioned so subsequent production runs are identical and changes require your approval.

Should we stock separate adult and paediatric kits?

For most departments, yes. Tube size range, adjunct sizes and even suction catheter sizing differ enough between groups that a single kit carries items wrong for both. Two configurations, one adult and one paediatric or neonatal, cover the caseload better than one universal pack — and the paediatric kit is used often enough to justify stocking it rather than assembling it.

Is sterile lubricant and suction included in the pack?

It can be included or supplied separately, depending on how your department works — some units keep suction on the machine rather than in the pack. Confirm at configuration stage, since this changes both the contents and the pack dimensions. Including them removes a step during the procedure at the cost of a slightly larger pack.

How do you verify tube and cuff quality?

Cuff inflation, leak-tightness and pilot balloon and valve function are checked at batch level, and tube dimensions are verified against specification. A cuff failure during a case means the airway has to be re-established immediately, so this is treated as a critical characteristic rather than a routine check.

What is the shelf life of a sterile intubation kit?

Shelf life is stated on the label and supported by validated packaging and accelerated aging data under ISO 11607. Storage is at ambient temperature, dry, out of direct sunlight, with the pouch unopened until use. Expiry and lot are printed on both the unit pack and the outer carton so stock rotation works on a shelf.

Do you supply private-label intubation kits?

Yes. Kits are produced with your brand, artwork, part numbers and IFU, including the label content your market requires — lot, expiry, sterilization method, legal manufacturer and, where applicable, the EU Authorised Representative. Artwork and label verification are part of the project.
